What is WISDOM?
The Wisdom document management system from AGU is your central solution for document management and for supporting collaborative work on documents. Wisdom specializes in particular in the work of a “standards body,” for example through comprehensive standards management functionalities and interfaces to common metadata formats such as IHS and Perinorm. Additional interfaces can also be created as needed. The structure of Wisdom offers efficient workflows whose applications are specialized in, but by no means limited to, the world of standards.
Examples are:
- Automatic notification for historical or corrected documents
- History, citations, or changes to a document at a glance
- Also new parts or supplementary sheets
- Check-in and check-out of specific documents with version control and notification service
Easy and intuitive operation
The structure of WISDOM is optimally adapted to the usual working methods of a company's internal standards department. Great importance is attached to intuitive user guidance and operation, so that other areas of application can also be easily covered with WISDOM. Searches can be saved and managed individually. A search can be assigned to a profile, as well as a project or topic folder, just like a single document. The search is then executed after each monthly update and the stored contact person(s) are informed of any changes. In addition to individual documents, complex searches can also be managed in the profiles and folders.
Various update settings are possible (e.g.):
- Notify or order automatically
- Only white prints or also drafts, pre-standards, or changes
- Also new parts or supplementary sheets

AGU & INMAS: Eine starke Partnerschaft in der Normenwelt
This October once again offers many interesting topics related to standards. On World Standards Day on October 14, international standards organizations (such as ISO and IEC) will be providing information about the possibilities of standardization under the title “Shared vision for a better world.” This year, they will be highlighting the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the implementation of which is being supported by the Application of norms and standards .
With its standards management solution WISDOM, AGU offers an important building block for the use of norms and standards in companies. Based on maintained metadata, you receive notifications about new, withdrawn, and changed documents and can control internal processes through workflows. In addition to standards and laws, you can also monitor other documents. A major advantage here is compatibility with various metadata and full-text suppliers.
Our cooperation partner INMAS supports you in purchasing and providing data and files as an external standards body and offers additional standards services, such as editorial work for technical documentation.
For the first time, we were able to offer a joint stand at the most important event for standards users. On October 6/7, we were exhibitors at the ANP joint meeting with 42. KNP at DIN in Berlin. This year, everything revolved around the topic of “Product Compliance and Standardization – Market Access, Safety, Sustainability.” As consultants for the creation of CE conformity, the topics were particularly interesting for INMAS, and the WISDOM team was able to take away many ideas for digital implementation.
Review: October, the month of standards, and WISDOM
Standardization is a constant companion for the team behind our WISDOM digitization solution for standards management and document management—and not just in October. But this year, the month was marked by a special focus on standardization. With new contacts and ideas from the ANP community meeting “Standards Practice in the Digital World,” they started October with a fresh outlook.
Bereits am 9. Oktober folgte der Höhepunkt des Normenjahres mit unserem WISDOM-Anwendertreffen 2019. Bei vollem Haus wurde das zentrale Thema „Lizenzverträge der Normen-Urheber und deren Umsetzung in unserer Softwarelösung WISDOM“ engagiert und praxisnah durch die Anwender diskutiert. Wir danken den Teilhabenden für die Impulse der kommenden Normenmonate.
Und wie jedes Jahr widmeten die internationalen Normungsorganisationen (wie ISO und IEC) den 14. Oktober einem besonderen Normungsthema. In diesem Jahr hoben Sie zum World Standards Day unter dem Titel „Video standards create a global stage“ die kooperative Zusammenarbeit bei der Entwicklung der standardisierten „video compression algorithms“ hervor. Welche eine globale Nutzung unabhängig von Endgeräten ermöglicht. Ein Medium der digitalen Arbeitswelt, dessen Mehrwert wir zur Unterstützung der Anwender unserer Produkte erfolgreich einsetzen. Denn Standardisierung ist nicht nur ein Thema im WISDOM-Team.

Tests can also be carried out on the go using a tablet, and interfaces ensure automatic data synchronization with external systems (e.g., ERP, CAE, and document management systems).
Exhibitor at the ANP joint meeting 2019
Under the title “Standards Practice in the Digital World,” the ANP Joint Meeting with the 41st KNP will take place on September 26 and 27, 2019, at Festo AG & Co. KG in Esslingen.
This is the fourth time that the AGU team has participated in the event, demonstrating the possibilities of digital standards management with our data- and supplier-neutral product “Smartline WISDOM.”
